Biographical Sketch
Robert A. Green, PE, F.NSPE
Robert Green works for the Dean in the James Worth Bagley College of Engineering as the Undergraduate Coordinator at Mississippi State University. In this position he acts on behalf of the Dean in matters involving undergraduate students and manages the college’s Computer Initiative. He holds a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Mississippi State. Mr. Green is also a registered Professional Engineer.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Green worked as a Research Engineer with the Diagnostic Instrumentation and Analysis Laboratory (DIAL), a research department in the College of Engineering. His areas of expertise while at DIAL were gas analysis, stack sampling and other EPA test methods, infrared pyrometry, and the design of intrusive probes for measuring specific parameters in harsh, high temperature, particle-laden environments. When he left DIAL for his current job he was serving as the Chief Test Engineer and Manager of the Field Operations Team.
Mr. Green also serves as a Navy Reserve Officer holding the rank of Commander. He is a Naval Engineering Duty Officer with expertise in the area of design and acquisition of ships and ships’ systems. He is currently the NAVSEA Reserve Program Manager for the Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration (CWID) and is attached to the Naval Sea Systems Command Region Southeast in Orlando, FL. Prior assignments have been with the Norfolk Naval Ship Yard, Philadelphia Naval Ship Yard, Naval Sea Systems Command, and as Commanding Officer of Naval Weapons Station Yorktown Detachment 609, the Amphibious Ready Group Intermediate Maintenance Activity Det 0948, USS Emory S Land (AS-39) Detachment 407, NAVSEA St. Louis, MO, and NAVSEA Houston, TX. He is also qualified facilitator for Reserve Officer Leadership Training and a science fair judge for the Office of Naval Research. His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (4 awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. and the Navy Unit Commendation Medal.
In addition to these duties, Mr. Green is a Past President of the Mississippi Engineering Society, is an elder within the Presbyterian Church PC(USA), and holds various other positions in volunteer and professional organizations including a member of the Starkville Chamber of Commerce and chair of the Greater Starkville Development Partnership Military Affairs Committee. His hobbies include reading, writing, and digital photography.
